What is Marfan's?
- A connective tissue disease. Connective tissue is the structures of the body that help hold the body and all of its structures together
- Connective tissue is made from proteins, the protein effected by Marfan's is fibrillin-1
- Many common places to see the results of Marfan's are the heart, blood vessels, bones, joints, and eyes
- It is an autosomal dominant trait
- Caused by mutation in the FBN1 gene
There are no carriers, if you have the gene you have the disease
